Lizards win at Limassol Aquathlon and Mens-Womens Nationals 2018

Last Sunday 17th June 2018 was a busy day for the Lizards! At 7am, some of our athletes went to an aquathlon (running, swimming, running) here in Limassol. We had a total of 7 of our team participating and we had 3 podium finishes with Esmi Finnis in 2nd place for her age group, Zara Meaby in 1st place and Chara Louca 2nd in their respective age categories. Well done girls!

Later that same day, the mens-womens nationals were held in Paralimni and at 7:25 Anna Makkoutide ran the 800m against a lot of wind and managed to get an amazing 2nd place in the mens-womens final with a time close to her personal best despite the weather conditions. Anna also took part in the relay, where the team came 2nd.

At 8.25, Alicia Finnis ran the 5000m, securing another personal best for herself and a national record for the U16s as well as a very promising 3rd position in the womens final, despite her young age of only 13 years.

Overall it was a great day for the Lizards before the summer holidays begin!
