Anna Makkoutide at ISF Gymnasiade 2018

We were extremely proud that our athlete Anna Makkoutide was chosen to participate in the ISF Gymnasiade competion in Marrakech on 5th May 2018 where she competed in the 800m Girls Final representing Cyprus. This was a huge honour as most of the competitors were 2 years older than her, proving once again her talent and capabilities as an athlete qualifying to join them on the junior athletics world stage. The Gymnasiade competition is famous for being a place where future Olympians are spotted, and there was a team of 31 Cypriots in total who attended this year for various events in athletics.

Anna ran a fantastic race and despite her young age, ended in 8th place and it was a proud moment for all of us in Limassol Lizards to see her on the big screen, watched all over the world.

On Sunday 7th May, Anna also joined other Cypriot athletes at Gymnasiade to represent Cyprus in the Medley Relay (200m x 400m x 600m x 800m), where each athlete runs a different distance. The first team member ran 200m, the second 400m, the third 600m and then in the final stretch Anna ran the 800m and Cyprus ended up in 6th Place!

Well done Anna – we look forward to a very bright athletics future!
